Always show images?

I'm a new subscriber, so I apologize if this is already answered somewhere else.

When a new message arrives, there is a button labeled "Show Images" with text, "External images have been blocked to protect you against potential spam!" Clicking the button displays the images for that message.

Is there a way to do something like "always show messages" for a specific address or domain? Always having to click for items that I receive regularly would be a bit of an annoyance.

Thank you!

For the record, the only way I've found to get around this so far is just to use the external email client ("eM Client for OX App Suite"). There does not appear to be a way to do this in the normal webmail client.

I appreciate the level of security that comes with blocking images by default. But not allowing users to whitelist specific senders or domains is an unnecessary nuisance. Even Microsoft managed to provide this in Outlook!

Especially since this function was once available (and always in the FAQ) ...It really is a brake to continue the subscription. Simple functions disappear and it's a shame.

it gets annoying

It seems like a pretty basic function that should work. It gets annoying after a while.

14 months and still cannot whitelist images from trusted sources? I actually came here from Tutanota for a trial because they have the same issue. I can't imagine who can put up with this on a daily basis. Unbelievable.

Please add this! It's super inconvenient that you cannot whitelist email addresses for which you always want to show images!

Agreed, I'm a new customer and I've been thrilled with the service thus far except for this one issue. I think it would be nice if next to the "Show Images" button if there was another option to "Always show images from this sender" or something along those lines...

Any news on this? It can be really annoying.

Agreed. A simple white-listing function would be handy to add/remove safe senders.

Adding my vote to this. This and the weird 2FA implementation are my only two gripes with Mailbox.org.

Whitelisting would be awesome for added security and control even though, personally, I would even welcome an option to just show all images by default.

Joining this petition...please allow us to whitelist addresses / domains

I'll add my support to this request, although interestingly, when I view my messages in my desktop and smart phone email client (Apple Mail) the images are shown.

I noticed the same thing - 3rd party email viewers show images from mailbox.org.

photo

Of course they will - they're just showing the email in its raw form and will have their own settings for what to display. 3rd party email layout has nothing to do with Mailbox.org.

2 years later and still no update? :(

Oh dear. Not a good sign. I am using the trial version, having come looking for a replacement for Spark on Chromebook.

After having used the web interface for a couple of months now, I must say that this lack of a basic funcionality is increasingly annoying in the daily use. I understand and appreciate, that images are not shown by default as a security measure, but why can I not whitelist specific senders or domains? This is a standard function in other solutions and I do not see any increased security threat.

I'm also wondering why there would not be any official answer here from the mailbox.org team to explain, why this function is not available or if it was planned to implement.

You can simply add a specific sender address as "trustworth" in "Settings => Security". Pictures (even external) should be loaded automatically for those adresses.

Thanks Peer, but it would be a lot easier for the customer to have a button on the email that does that does that so we dont have to go into Settings for every sender.

It was ironic that I had to click View Images on this conversation notification email...

Thanks a lot for the fast reply, Peer.

I tried that a couple of weeks ago and it didn't work. Now it seems indeed to be implemented, great!

I agree with Chris, that a button "add mail/domain to safe senders" directly with "show images" would be ideal.

@Chris: We totally agree. We're discussing that with OX for a long time... We're still working on it. Also today we've been in contact with OX for that. :-(

@3322313: Yes, it was introduced but broken in the past, now it was repaired with OX 7.10.3, which we were able to rollout ~3 weeks ago.

@Peer Apart from showing images, what other consequences does it have to whitelist a domain or email-address in this way?

photo

It's still not working.

With our patch release today, we were able to add a button to always load external images in e-mails, even if the sender is not in the list of trusted e-mail addresses.

It's in settings => security.

Thats great, thanks for letting us know!

Yes long time coming. Thank you very much Peer, great news!

Excellent! It seems like such a small thing, but can make a noticeable difference when dealing with lots of emails.
