Can we have a dedicated email app as K9 mail has not received any update since 2018. Besides that a reputed company like you should not be depended on some 3rd party app which just discontinued its production and have no proper release cycle.

Thanks

Did you have a look at the OX-Mail (OX Suite). This is probably as close as it gets to a 1st party app since the "Connect your device" widget in your Portal will guide you towards (when connecting Calender/Contacts or Drive).

I use it on Android 8.1 and it works quite well.

Protonmail has it so why not mailbox??

Yes I also wish they would offer it. OX mail worked UNTIL I set up dual factor authentication. Then it wouldn't work. So I had to revert back which defeats the whole point for me so now I don't even use Mailbox for my emails!!!

Try FairEmail: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.faircode.email

I've been using it for about a year now it's regularly updated. It's better than K9 IMO.

Yes, you can use 3rd party apps like K9 (I'm using AquaMail) but they don't have all the mailbox features that are in the mailbox web-interface, so that's why a dedicated mailbox app is needed asap.

The unfortunate situation is that Mailbox.org relies on OpenXchange for their groupware, including email services. OpenXchange is pretty old software with lots of enterprises using it so it's very slow to update. They're still using java and if you've seen their reviews on app stores, their apps suck, because their stodgy enterprises don't care about those features.

The fastest option would be to pressure OpenXchange or Mailbox.org to add PWA features to their already good mobile interface. If you try to log into mailbox.org through your mobile browser the email interface is actually designed quite well for mobile. they just need to add things like push notifications and ability to delete emails through those notifications, calendar reminders, etc. They could also package this as an app, but it would be the equivalent of using a mobile browser and making a shortcut to it.

I posted an idea for this here; please vote for it: https://userforum-en.mailbox.org/topic/progressive-web-app-for-mobile-and-push-notifications

A mobile app would be nice but I don't see it happening with the way they have currently configured their business model/software partners. PWA seems like the fastest option.

I use the beta version of K-9 Mail, which was updated fairly recently.

The beauty of mailbox.org, and other providers that use standard protocols, is that you are free to use the services however you like, using any applications you like.

ProtonMail have their own app, but you can't access your account via standard protocols such as IMAP without installing their bridge application.
