Need javascript for the web interface but don't want javascript to be executed in mail previews

When I view an email in the Mailbox.org interface, I know that external images are not loaded but doesn't the javascript get executed anyway in HTML emails? I don't want scammers and spammers to know that I have seen their mail, or any other javascript to be executed when viewing an email, unless I permit it explicitly. But we need to have javascript enabled to use the interface.

Thunderbird seems to handle this right. Javascript is by default not executed in HTML emails. But I would also like to use the Mailbox.org webmail interface safely too.
