Redirecting to external email address gives a loop error

Hi!

I’m trying to setup forwarding of emails to external accounts, but I can’t get this to work.

I am using my custom domain (let's call it mycustomdomain.com) for my Mailbox.org account, and both the mail email address and aliases are working fine.

But I also want to redirect some other email addresses on mycustomdomain.com to other external email addresses. I have set up forwarding by going to Settings -> Email -> Filter rules. Here I have added a new rule which says:

  • Conditions: Any recipient contains user1@mycustomdomain.com
  • Actions: Redirect to firstname.lastname@gmail.com
  • (Don’t process subsequent rules)

However, if I send an email to user1@mycustomdomain.com it bounces with the error:

<user1@mycustomdomain.com>: mail for mycustomdomain.com loops back to myself

There aren't any rules at gmail.com which forwards emails back. And if I check the email source/headers of the bounced mail, it doesn't seem like it ever tries to actually send the email to the gmail.com-account.

I can’t understand why this is happening. Any ideas?

Which server send that message?

And: Please open an individual support ticket including mailbox.org account AND the remote destination mailaddress.

I have already sendt this to support, but I wanted to post is here also in case someone could help me faster here.

Hi, was there a solution to this? I am having the same problem with 2 aliases that I want to forward to external addresses.
