Unable to sync tasks with repeating schedule.

This has been working up until the past few weeks. I only noticed as my phone was no longer reminding me of scheduled tasks that I have setup to repeat monthly/weekly.

I've tested this on various apps and recreated my DavX5 setup.

I can sync one-time tasks just fine, but as soon as I set a repeating schedule they disappear from my apps/devices. As soon as the schedule is removed they appear again.

This has worked flawlessly up until some time on March.

I thought I'd put the feelers out here before I contact Mailbox.org Support.

No. I hadn't logged a ticket. But your reply has just prompted me so I have one logged now.

Are you having the same issue then?

Yes, most of my tasks are repeatable and I’m seeing the same behaviour. It also started happening around the same time. For reference, I’m using the 2do app on Android.

Well I'm glad to see it's not just me then. I mainly use aCalendar+ which is experiencing the issue. We'll see what Support comes back with. Hopefully this is just an OX update that can be fixed in a future release.

Failing that we'll need to look for another service that offers the ability to sync recurring tasks, which oddly isn't that easy to come by.

I've also had this problem for a while on my iPhone (iOS 12).

I reproduced the same issue with Thunderbird: as soon as a task is set to be repeated, it is not synced. The issue seems to be both ways: whether I create the task on the web interface or in Reminders (iOS)/Thunderbird.

Well I've had a response from Mailbox.org Support:


Thank you for your detailed report. We are aware of this issue and are working on this together with our vendor Open Xchange.


I've linked this ticket to our internal master ticket and will close it.

At this point I cannot tell you when, how or if this is going to be solved.


I'm happy this is being looked at now. It's just a case of waiting I guess. I'd have a look through the Open-Xchange release notes against the version Mailbox.org are running but they're in PDFs spread about the place.

I also filed a ticket with Mailbox Support a few weeks ago and been communicating with them since. I received this response today:


Thank you very much for your patience. We have now received an answer form Open Xchange. They have disabled the synchronizing of repeating tasks in the system. That means that it is not possible to synchronize repeating tasks. We are not happy with this decision and we are asking them to implement this feature. Unfortunately this can take some time. I'm sorry that I can't offer you a solution at the moment.

Que, disabled? Why would someone do such a thing?

The whole PIM implementation I've seen so far seems inferior to NextCloud's.
