"Wrong or missing login data to access mail transport server smtp.mailbox.org."

After I slightly change some non-critical settings of my mailbox and then try to send any message, I get the following error:

"Wrong or missing login data to access mail transport server smtp.mailbox.org. Please check associated account's settings/credentials."

Noteworthy, that I don't touch any settings related to SMTP or forwarding, don't setup an external client (do everything in the web interface) and even if I return everything back, the error continues to appear.

if you using PIA VPN, they stopped allowing SMTP unless they whitelist you fpia really

I use PIA VPN along with Thunderbird on my desktop and as long as I'm using port 465 for the SMTP server it's working fine for now.

Most VPN's block port 25.

ya, well that is not what's happening , if you look around, you are now only allowed 1 mailserver for SMTP and you have to get and respond to 1 email a month from PIA, etc , broke many people's SMTP with no notice, terrible. this policy started few days ago , doesn't matter it's port 465

OK, well maybe it's just not caught up with me yet. With PIA running, Thunderbird has access to a couple gmail accounts, a couple aol accounts, as well as mailbox.org simultaneously.

I've been reading through the latest thread on PIA's forum here

https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/discussion/33362/out-of-the-blue-cant-send-email

and it seems most of the people there are having issues. Maybe I'll end up having the same, maybe I won't.

ya, they doing require gmail nor aol to be whitelisted, my understanding though, is that it's user by user, so now I have mailbox.org whitelisted, but you will likely also have to, unless they stopped enforcing their policy because of their big blunder ..... you only get one mail server, that is not one of the big mail servers like yahoo, gmail, aol , etc, so I can't use riseup and mailbox.org , hence time to find a new VPN , I'm looking maybe at mullvad but it's $20 more per year , and not sure how their ovpn support is, really lame what PIA just did

I'm having the same problem. Can't send email in the webclient or via thunderbird. I also can't login on my phone with a similar error.

if it is webmail and phone then it is not SMTP problem, maybe make a new thread or give more details on your situation, like , how long have you been using mbox.org ? and for how long was it working on all 3 ? ; what OS are you using on phone and computer, what application on your phone ?

can you connect on other networks on any of the 3 , if so which ones ? because if it is all 3 sounds more like your network or something like your credentials at mbox.org

meanwhile you can use this system:

Hi,

It actually all works with everything now. The account was made yesterday, so not sure if there was something blocking access to SMTP.

Hi, same problem for my account with all aliases, The problem is that both account are on an addon domain and another user is the original and main user (has a catch all alias) on that domain.

So on IMAP, I have to use the main user user/password for SMTP, otherwise sending mail is impossible. Yet receiving is fine with the regular user.

And now on the webclient I get the error mentioned here.

Please respond fast as email sending is kinda important. Please do not send me to the Jira Service desk, you're running, as 1. It's in German and 2. Asks for some user and pass, which I don't have (my regular login data is not accepted)

I am having the same error when trying to send an email from the webmail interface. Happens whether I am using my VPN or not. My account is newly created (and paid for).

I tried logging into the customer support interface but I am getting an invalid password error. Edit: Managed to log in. Going to try creating a ticket as recommended.

I unlocked it.

In general you are able to login into our customer portal. This has nothing to do with the lock. It's the same username and database. If you can login into the webinterface, you can login into the user portal (if you doesn't mistype something).
