Setup external domain email vis imap?

I have tried to look in the FAQs, but have not been able to find if this is possible and if it is how to set it up.
I have my own domain and I would like to access my email in mailbox via imap. I do not want to set up a custom domain as there are other users that would be impacted. Can you point me in the right direction on how to do this
