Newsletter Spam

I recently subscribed to Mailbox. I am not getting up to 2000 spam emails each day in the inbox. Many of these are newsletters, making them difficult to report as spam.
I have only used the Mailbox email address for a small number of accounts, which never previously had a problems.
What is the cause of this and what can I do about it?
