Calendar reminders for existing recurring appointments no longer working

For the past few months, my recurring calendar reminders are failing in a very serious manner: all reminders (emails, notifications) associated with them are no longer working. This makes the calendar worse than useless. Please look into it and fix this - hopefully you agree that this is a terrible failure.

Real-time notifications may not work
