Service Outage

Fresh on the heels of the latest mailbox fiasco (failure to properly protect customer's PGP key security, failure to properly disclose security threat to customers, while boasting of supposed audit success), Open-Xchange strikes again. This weekend has been marked by buggy login attempts, failures to properly access services, and a refusal to accept the correct Guard password.

When scheduled maintenance needs to occur, best practice is to inform customers of downtime in advance. When unexpected downtime occurs, best practice is to inform customers after the fact. Neither has happened. No surprise. But I do expect more excuses.

Even horrible companies like Verizon can offer customers 20 dollars in exchange for outages. Mailbox doesn't even bother to acknowledge it.

Good afternoon,

Unfortunately, we experienced problems with a database last weekend that affected some of our customers. As a result, it was temporarily impossible to log in. Our on-call service was able to quickly identify the cause and implement a temporary solution.

We are currently analyzing the underlying cause in detail. We have temporarily put all other projects on hold in order to fully investigate the incident and ensure a permanent and stable solution as quickly as possible.

As soon as we have more reliable information, I will inform you here immediately.

I apologize for the incident and the inconvenience caused.

Kind regards
