Considering the move to Mailbox

But before I do that I need to know whether Mailbox can accommodate my six websites’ custom email domains? Is this achievable under Pro plan, the medium choice?

I guess you mean premium plan, right? I think this is even possible in the standard plan. According to

https://mailbox.org/en/prices/#compare-all-features--2

only the number of aliases is limited.

If I am wrong, mailbox must update their website. :-)

Ah, it’s labelled the Standard Plan. It says ‘50 aliases’, but does that mean 5 custom domain names with 10 aliases for each?

The other thing is the Drive space allowed. 5GB seems like nothing – when I am paying iCloud £1.99 for 200GB!

The maximum is 50 aliases for (all) your custom domain(s) in Standard plan, not each. You can also create catch-all aliases.
I don't use their cloud storage (or a least no extra storage) and yes there are cheaper storage providers. Choose what suits you best. :-) And Apple makes a lot of money with overpriced hardware. :-)
