Protonmail address rejected

Valtteri Asikainen shared this problem 4 hours ago

For some reason my Protonmail email address is blocked from sending anything to my Mailbox address. The error message is "smtp; 554 5.7.1 <[redacted]@proton.me>: Sender address rejected: Access denied". What causes this?

To clarify, this seems like something Mailbox does behind the scenes and I don't have control over it, since the address is definitely not blacklisted and I've even set all spam to go to junk instead of being rejected.

Hi,

thank you for your post. Your account is not yet verified, this is the reason that you can't send out e-mails to external addresses. As long as your account has no contract, you can only send e-mails to mailbox.org-addresses. We had to implement this for test-accounts, because we had so many spammers abusing our services. That means as soon as you have a paid contract, you can send out e-mails.

With kind regards

That wasn't the problem, I understand the sending limitations. But I'm unable to *receive* email from Protonmail.

Hi,

sorry, my bad. But the reason is the same: We had to block certain domains, in order to prevent fraud attempts. So the receiving of mails from proton.me is not possible as well in trial accounts.

With kind regards
