I can't set up email in Apple Mail.

Manual setup keeps producing errors and never connects. Then I found an automatic option? After downloading and opening it, you get the following message: Review the profile in System Settings if you want to install it. ?? I go to the system settings on my Mac... well, I don't know where to look (it's not indicated either), but I can't find anything there about the mailbox. Anyone have any ideas? I find it all very strange and am somewhat disappointed in the entire mailbox environment.

And what happens if you double click the profile (2nd screenshot). Maybe try the manual setup instead.

Do you use 2FA and e-mail-app / application passwords? What errors do you get? Have you checked the KB?

In System Settings, there should be an entry "Profile Downloaded" towards the top of the sidebar (below your Apple ID and above Wi-Fi settings).

Choose "Profile Downloaded", then double-click "mailbox Suite E-Mail" to review and install the profile.

"Profile Downloaded" is shown only temporarily. If you cannot find it, open the profile in Finder again (and confirm the message you've seen before), then go to System Settings.

The screenshots were part of my reply, not from OP. When you double-click the profile, you'll see profile details like date issued, account type, server name, etc. and an "Install" button to proceed.

You can leave 2FA enabled and create a separate password for use with the mail application on your device, as explained here: https://kb.mailbox.org/en/private/security-and-privacy/e-mail-password/
