Is this the same problem as last weekend?

As far as we know at present, the cause of this fault is different from that of last Friday. The exact cause is currently being analysed in detail. As soon as we have further information, we will let you know.

It appears mailbox has finally implemented a functional status.mailbox.org page. If so, thank you. 0f124f0d000eb41526f69b18c75a0c2d5e172bcdef954bf1fabbbe8cd06a90c4

Still not working here. Cleared all cookies and site data twice and just getting a spinning circle forever. This started last night when the web app notified me there was a new version available and I clicked the update button.

Hi Maximus,

thank you for the update. I just tried it and it works for me. Can you open an existing doc in a private browser-tab, does that work?

Hi B.,

thank you for your message. Could you please tell me, which web app you mean? The incident started today, so this seems like another issue.

With kind regards

The webmail app. Have tried three separate browsers, from a clean state. None go beyond the initial loading screen after login. Just spinning circles forever. Three of them going as I type. Getting a bit boring.

Hello,

the issue is not fully resolved. On mobile browser, mailbox.org cannot be found ("Safari cannot open the page because the server can't be found"). The iOS Mail app cannot connect to the mail servers.

But here is a funny thing: using a windows pc, and the same iPhone as hot spot, I changed name servers on the PC wifi connection and then was able to load mailbox.org emails and the website as well. That is, on the PC.

Mobile still doesn't work.

Hi Felix, thanks for your response. The specific problem appears to be related to viewing and opening encrypted documents in Drive using the web app. Unencrypted documents are viewable and editable. Encrypted documents (.txt, .docx. .pdf, etc) are not. Do a couple rounds of tests in the same login session to confirm, not just one test.

Logging and and clearing cookies did not resolve things. The issue may stem from the recent web app update pushed to users earlier today.

Hello Sakari,

thank you for your message. I just tried to recreate the issue, but it works for me on both, Safari on iOS and the iOS Mail App. Could you send me screenshot and your iOS-version to helpdesk@mailbox.org so I can look into the matter? Thank you in advance.

With kind regards

Just tested mail webapp login with FireFox Focus on iOS, unable to load, same as all desktop browsers, infinite spinning circle. Whatever update was made last night needs to be reversed ASAP, getting very very tired of this.

Hello B.,

Thank you for your response. I understand that this is very frustrating. I apologize for the situation.

You are speaking of the web app. What exactly do you mean by that? Do you mean the WPA? Or do you mean the webclient under https://mailbox.org?

We have closed your session. Could you please try to log in again?

I'm talking about whatever term you use to refer to the webmail portal that loads after the login screen (login.mailbox.org). The entire 'app suite' or whatever you call it (app.mailbox.org/appsuite/) does not load, for an existing session, or for any completely brand new sessions. I have repeatedly cleared all browser data and tried logging in again on several different browsers and now different platforms as well, and nothing lets me get past the loading screen to view my e-mail.

I have just checked if my desktop mail client via IMAP still works and thankfully that appears to be fine, so thank god for that. But I am mostly using a browser to view my mail throughout the day so this situation is a real problem for me, especially with the consideration that any amendments and changes to my account settings must be performed through this web interface.

If you want to know the specifics of my setup then please get in touch somehow, I don't want to post them in public.

Not solved, can't connect to mailbox (Finland). It's been like this +72 hours now. I can log in to mailbox.org using VPN but can't read or send e-mails. Please fix this. Same result with different browsers and phones browsers.

Hello everyone,

We’d like to provide some context regarding the current login issues, as two separate causes have coincided here. First, there was a technical glitch in our infrastructure yesterday that temporarily prevented some of our customers from logging in. The cause of this glitch has been resolved, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We will provide more details about the exact circumstances here in due course.

Second, there is currently a separate issue affecting older browser versions: In conjunction with the latest update to the webmail client, a JavaScript error may occur in browsers that do not fully support certain modern web technologies. This error can also prevent the login process from completing successfully. This may also affect the mailbox PWA (Progressive Web App). On smartphones, the PWA relies on the device’s browser and its web technologies for certain functions. Therefore, an outdated browser can also cause the described problems when using the PWA.

To resolve the situation as quickly as possible, we have initially rolled back the update in question. We want to give all users who may encounter the JavaScript error due to an older browser version 14 days to update their browser.

To resolve the situation as quickly as possible, we have temporarily rolled back the update in question. By doing so, we aim to give all users who may be experiencing the JavaScript error due to an older browser version 14 days to update their browser. We will then roll out the update again. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and for the confusion resulting from the timing of these two separate errors.

Best regards

For me, mobile access was restored earlier today (13/08/2026).
Felix, to replicate the setup, you would have to use Telia (Finland) as your mobile service provider.
I have an iPhone 13 with iOS 18.7.8., browsers Safari and Vivaldi.
Safari screenshot attached.

I suspect some sort of a DNS issue at the mailbox.org end, since changing nameservers helped with my PC (but I cannot do that for the mobile phone connection, that's up to Telia).

I presume you mean changing your DNS resolver and not the nameserver?

I'm not familiar with IOS, but it seems that you can change your DNS resolver there with configuration profiles: https://publicdns.info/guides/encrypted-dns/ios.html. Perhaps this will help (if nothing else, then at least as a stopgap measure) in case such an issue occurs again.

In case any Android users face DNS resolution issues and come to this post, you can set 'Private DNS' to use e.g. Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 via DoT (one.one.one.one) or DoH (cloudflare-dns.com). Note that some mobile providers such as mine seem to block DoT so just try DoH, if DoT doesn't work. Alternatively, the app personalDNSfilter allows you to use a DNS resolver of your choosing, and simultaneously, do custom DNS filtering :)

I cannot access my email on the phone and web browser, I type my email address, I put password in. It transfers me to another window and it is just a black screen loading endlessly. I tried downloading Firefox on my Mac, same issue.

Hello Niina Ra,

thanks for your report.

Are you located in Finland? Some users have reported issues caused by their provider, maybe the hints in this thread help: https://userforum-en.mailbox.org/topic/5557-unable-to-connect-on-mobile
