Sent messages are in spamfolder of recipient with hotmail/outlook/gmail.com accounts

Because of geopolitical reasons, I am moving from the obvious free email providers (hotmail/outlook/gmail) to a European service. After some investigation I decided to join mailbox.org and purchased a light subscription. Reason to purchase the subscription was because I could not send messages to test with a free account of mailbox.org.

When I switched to this service, I have noticed my messages are flagged as spam more often (as I was used to when I used outook/gmail) when sent to hotmail/outlook/gmail domains. I searched the KB but did not find anything (only for custom domains) and opened a ticket.

Response to the ticket: "Your account is in the LIGHT-Package. For the LIGHT-Package we can only answer questions regarding your contract or payment. We can't offer any technical support in the Light-Package. If you need technical support, you can choose the STANDARD-Package or the PREMIUM-Package". Conclusion: No answer.

Does anyone on the forum has a clue?

Final thoughts: Now is the time to seize the opportunities and the answer provided does not help people to convince to move to an European (paid) service with a question on basic functionality...

Well - initially if you have a test account you do have full support since a test account is always (for free) in STANDARD. We do recommend to start in STANDARD to have an easy and full access to a (fairly) paid support team that will normally answer in less then 4-6 hours. Once you are familiar with everything and if you're not willing to support a support team, you're able to downgrade to LIGHT - which explicitly does *NOT* include support any more. LIGHT is a "light" tariff for users, that do NOT want to have any kind of support. Works as expected.

Providing support here costs a lot of money. Giving a 15 minutes help to answer some tickets costs more then 25 EUR at the end of the day - so a LIGHT tariff will not bring back that money for 3-4 years (!). Yes, LIGHT is also a paid account, but it explicitly does not pay for support and it is obvious that this is not economically viable.

But: We do provide support here in a great public community driven userforum, where also our support team and the CEO is present and happy to help (for free).

To answer your question: Sometimes, very "fresh" accounts, that have been created from IPs outside of Europe and that are unpaid or paid by Paypal or Credit Card have necessarily not the best reputation. Due to massive abuse, we do have to handle them differently. This will be upgraded to better reputation mailrelays after 30 days and an ongoing history. Not great - but the only way how to handle this massive criminal abuse.

Hi Peer,

Thanks for your answer and I understand your approach on the support issue.

However, as a pretty experienced user, above was in my opinion, a question regarding basic functionality upon my own observations: Messages sent from my new (this) service, are flagged as spam. I have not seen any warnings at all for this behavior and that's why I asked.

Can you please confirm if I understand your answer correctly: New paid accounts (not only created outside of Europe or paid with PayPal or credit card) can experience the behavior their regular messages are seen as spam for about a month. After this month this behavior for regular has disappeared, right?

I think I have the same problem. Messages I sent from my mailbox.org account to gmail go straight to the spam folder there. I have a paid account and my IP/location is from the EU. So basically as a paying user, for one month the email is basically unusable?
