Will you create maybe a new interface for the configuration of the account than what it is for ther moment which is a simple iframe?

Because we would need a better interface for the integration of passkeys

I would like to have an official statement to passkey support from the mailbox.org team too.

As i understand that passkeys are still a pretty new technology and looking into it/implementing probably takes some good amount of time it's still a pretty good alternative to the current OTP login (which is pretty tedious to work with imo).

In general I would love to see passkey support too!

I use it for a couple of services out there. There are still limitations (Browser vendor, browser desktop vs. mobile).

Be aware though that in the Google and Apple universe world you might end end saving the private key into their cloud if you don't pay attention what you use and where. Hardware devices like a pair of yubikeys might be a better choice.

Yup I would agree with that. But people needs to learn about how to do things. Not things which needs to be adapted to them. Especially since I remind you that everybody, because of social construct, want to buy the last apple or last pixel or Samsung or huawei.

People needs to learn to use password generator not from their photo but from third audited app. And then you can store your passkeys securely

I am currently evaluating email services to switch away from Gmail. 2FA is absolutely required but TOTP is too much of a nuisance to use. I consider passkeys table stakes in basic security practices, and am disappointed that this is not available with mailbox in 2026.

I was ready to sign up for a family plan, but lacking passkey support is a dealbreaker.

Personally I can deal with TOTP, but I also had to scratch the idea of moving my parents to mailbox for the lack of passkeys. It's very disappointing indeed. And the way that application-specific passwords are generated in the web UI is very confusing, as it's scattered across two different places.
