CardDAV/CalDAV authentication error

Hello since about 24 hours or so ago, I have been consistently receiving error authenticating into mailbox.orgs CardDAV or CalDAV. This is quite frustrating. It is happening both on my Android DAVx5 client and on Thunderbird. The support pages as of this post are also giving me 404. What is going on with mailbox? There was no email or any communication about this. Quite frustrating because I love your service.

I have been having the same error and since about the same time. I finally solved it by disabling the 2FA by TOTP on mailbox web client. Then I re-logged in with DAVx5 and it worked. Its really wierd because I've had 2FA enabled since 2 weeks and it never caused problems up until two days ago.

It would be very necessary to be able to have 2FA enabled and have DAV syncing working.

Have you created/used an application password for CalDAV/CardDAV?

I'm not getting errors on DAVx5, but Thunderbird desktop is continually asking me to enter my dav.mailbox.org credentials on each startup, in spite of saving the password. My app password works for this prompt, until I close the program or restart, and then I'm required to manually enter those credentials all over again. Currently chatting with support and they suggested changing the URL to dav-sso-mailbox.org. However, I don't see anywhere to change this URL within Thunderbird's settings, and I suspect (but have not confirmed) that Mailbox.org needs to change things on their side so that Thunderbird automatically prompts users for dav-sso-mailbox.org sign in credentials instead of dav.mailbox.org.

Is anyone else getting similar repeated prompts to enter their DAV credentials in Thunderbird?

Problem solved.

@zapata that was indeed the problem. I knew we had app passwords for emails, but I didn't realize we also had app passwords for cardav/caldav. The interface is a bit confusing in mailbox because these two passwords are not in the same place.

For anyone wondering the Email passwords are in : Settings -> mailbox.org -> Email app passwords, while the Application passwords (used for carddav/caldav) are in : Settings -> Security -> Application passwords

@Maximus. I am suspecting you are going through similar problem. To get Thunderbird to work correctly, I had to do this:

1. For Calendar : Go to your calendar and then "Properties" and make sure you have your new Username set here.

2. For Address Book : There was no way to change the username, so I had to "Remove" all dav.mailbox.org address books, and add them again. And this time I entered the new username.

Thank you for that suggestion, @MuffinMan! Support helped me find where to manually update the DAV URL within each Thunderbird calendar (under properties) but I have yet to proceed. Have you experimented with changing the old DAV URL in Thunderbird calendars to the new sso one? I'm perplexed why support would suggest doing this in Thunderbird, when the original dav.mailbox.org address is still being used for calendars in the primary Mailbox.org web interface.

No, i did not use the sso urls that you mentioned earlier. The dav.mailbox.org urls seem to be working fine for me.

Also, if someone can change this from an "idea" to a "problem" that would be nice. Sorry I am new to this forum and can't seem to find a way to do that. Thank you again. Love mailbox.org <3

Absolutely horrible interface. I also spent several hours scratching my head trying to figure out why the app passwords don't work while trying all sorts of things...
