ActiveSync vs. DAVx

Hi, I'm new to mailbox.org and am currently setting up on my Samsung Android device. I came across DAVx and ActiveSync. For now I just tried out ActiveSync and it seems to be able to create/sync new calendar entries. Didn't check for contacts yet. For Email I use Thunderbird for Android.

As ActiveSync was easy to set up without any extra app I'm wondering whether there are any avantages in using DAVx over ActiveSync.
