Synchronization of calendar and contact data with OX Sync and DAVx5

Proposed

Dear mailbox.org customers,

We would like to inform you today about an important change so that you can continue to conveniently synchronise your calendar and contact data with your Android device.

The Android app "OXSync", which could previously be used for this purpose, will no longer be developed by the manufacturer Open-Xchange. It will therefore soon no longer be available in the app stores.

To offer you a sustainable and future-proof solution, we recommend switching to the DAVx5 app. This application is actively developed, open source and offers significantly more extensive features. DAVx5 integrates seamlessly into Android and works reliably with many calendar and contact apps.

What sets DAVx5 apart:

- Management of multiple calendar and address book accounts

- Flexible synchronisation settings

- Compatibility with mailbox.org and numerous other services

- Transparent, continuously developed open source solution

Detailed step-by-step instructions for setting up DAVx5 can be found at the following link: https://kb.mailbox.org/en/private/addressbook-and-calendar/caldav-and-carddav-app-for-android?nl=p

Kind regards

Your mailbox.org team

Already using it but these kind of things keep users away from the system. Yes, I can help everyone around me to set up mailbox.org, but from a UX perspective, it's not really desirable to think of third-party systems to get basic features running on your device.

In short, I hope open-xchage will reconsider some of their decisions in the near future.
The more I read about what they did in the last few years, the more I feel that they look more after business customers instead of private individuals.

Absolutely correct, from a geek perspective, we can suffer a lot. But for a normal user? It's a horror. Try to present anyone with a solution of having to install tons of apps with weird names, and type difficult logins there, each app separately. So you do it for them, of course. Next month you say "sorry there's no more OXMail app, use this K9Something". Next month you say, "sorry there's no more OXSync, use this D5xSomething and don't forget the super exact DAV login path. I'm kidding I do it for you". Another month you say, "now we have 5 logins 2.0, super duper specific password but also super unique login usernames.. and we call it single sign on .... I do it for you". WTF. Seriously.
