Is it possible to delete all calendar events?

I've ended up with duplicates of every event in my default calendar, due to an import mishap. Is there a way I can wipe this calendar clean of all events and start again?
it appears I cannot delete the default calendar, otherwise I'd just do that and make a new one.
Any tips?

This software is so horrible! Both the old and the new beta version! I would have expected that switching to list view, selecting all items and deleting them would work. But it doesn't. :-( I fear you need an external client (e.g Thunderbird) for this task. I have multiple old entries in my calendar that are not displayed in list view. I see them when I export the calendar and when I add the calendar to Thundebird via CalDAV.

thank you for your inquiry. Usually the way to go would be to delete the whole calendar, but the issue here is that the default calendar can't be deleted. In this case the only thing that works is deleting all events manually.

You cannot be serious that this is the final answer. Please find a way to make the default calender removable or some other workaround.
