Does anyone know how to hide table of contents by default in Notes?

Every time I load up my note it shows the ToC on the left side of the screen, which is very obstructive on mobile. There is an option to hide the ToC but its not remembered on a refresh. Is there a setting somewhere to hide the ToC by default?
