Alias mails and Inbox subdirectories

Fabio Battagion shared this idea 2 months ago
Proposed

It would be useful to send incoming mails to different inbox partitions (sub-folders) based on the incoming alias address, so basically to have a specific area inside Inbox for specific Alias or at least: send the main mail address to Inbox and all the alias into a partition inside Inbox

I actually found a way to do this, using "Rules" in Setting

Thanks

This is not really workable, the aliases should have their own Inboxes.

Right now with 10 aliases, everything just lands in the mailbox.org Inbox, I can create 20 sub folders with cascading rules myself, but this should've been automated, seriously considering to switch to a different provider due to this.

Aren't you thinking about separate email addresses, like the professional packages offered by domain registrars that do provide separate inboxes for each address?

In the world of "email for individual use", I haven't seen any provider that auto-creates inboxes for aliases but I didn't test every one of them. I admit that I prefer to do folders and rules myself. Doesn't take much time overall. Aliases like the ones Mailbox provides are nothing more than alternate identities tied to your main mailbox address in any case. I guess only the family offers or professional Mailbox accounts provide separate inboxes by default?
