Caldav-carddav not working on e-os

I'm running e/os on my phone (a degoogled version of android) and davx5 is a built-in feature of it. When trying to add my mailbox account with the regular URL of https://dav.mailbox.org it doesn't work. The account is added but nothing seems to be discovered, so no calendars or contacts are synced. Is there something I can do to fix this?
For completeness: yes I use 2fa but yes I also use an app password.

To be clear about my setup: Oneplus 9 with custom rom 'e/OS'. It has an integrated DAVx5 implementation.
The integrated DAVx5 does not support mailbox, but if you install davx5 from f-droid it works fine: https://f-droid.org/packages/at.bitfire.davdroid/
If this changes in the future, so if it works with the integrated davx5, please let me know!
