Vjournal standard

Proposed

DAVx5 now supports vJournal files to CalDAV servers. Does Mailbox.org support vJournal?

To give a bit more context on this proposal: the vJournal and vTodo parts of the iCalendar standard can be used by apps like jtx Board https://jtx.techbee.at/sync-with-davx5 to provide a fully integrated journal, notes and todo app backed by the CalDAV server.

I too would be highly pleased if this could be used.

At the moment it throws back some 403:Forbidden code.

Is there any plan to implement this?

Same here. I want to condense my various note apps to JTX Board and have it sync with Mailbox. I uninstalled JTX because I got error 403 kickback.

@mailbox, please add support for vjournal so we have a wider selection of clients we can sync to your servers with!

Would also like to see an implementation of vJournal, I'd love to use jtx board with mailbox.org.

Same here, I would really appreciate if it was possible to sync notes to mailbox.org using jtx board.

For me it wouldn't be crucial to also have a web frontend to view and edit notes (though it would be nice).

Same here.

I would also welcome this very much! This would also fit your concept of being open to creative and new solutions, such as opentalk.eu - great thing!

I think mailbox.org uses OXchange as a backend, so it should probably added there :)

DAVx5 has worked around the 403 error a few months ago, so at least you can use tasks sync of jtx board.

VJOURNAL support would be awesome of course. At least saving stuff should be not too hard. I doesnt need to have a frontend (would be cool though :D).

Another one requesting support for VJournal please!

Hi, sorry for the German post, here is a translation:

Am also very much in favor! Have immediately looked up where VJOURNAL is implemented, there are finally many server implementations that fully implement iTIP. I just can't judge if these can be integrated into OXchange without further ado. Even if not, an additional CalDAV service would be possible, e.g. based on Cyrusmap, as an experimental opt-in without support. Otherwise it needs a feature request to Open-Xchange...

Is there any progress on the part of Mailbox.org?

A broad support for the open DAV-based standards would be great. Would love to hear something from Mailbox on this matter.

Peer is too busy drinking champagne and counting money from EU digital sovereignty initiatives to make any improvements to the email service. He says in another thread he's disappointed with OX but will drink wine with them at conferences. Two years and no dark mode, doesn't keep up with DAV standards. Such a joke webmail provider. Just sleeping on their previous laurels.

I agree that drinking champagne can lead to resentments if you are a paying customer with a specific problem. I just asked them in a support ticket if they opened a ticket for a feature request to OX or if they have any roadmap for our request. I suspect it is not on their agenda or low priority or unfeasible right now. Who knows?

Neither VJOURNAL nor VTODO are supported in OX's iTIP implementation, however somehow is functional in mailbox.org. Maybe they did not find a good strategy to "do it the right way", yet. Who knows? As it is, community work could be better. Still, mailbox.org is a decent provider for me, they support open standards as opposed to Protonmail, Tutanova and alike.

I suggest if you want an answer from mailbox.org, send a support ticket, I will let you know when I receive a reply on mine.

P.S. Check the Themes in Basic Settings, there you have Theme called "Mailbox Dark". That might work as Dark Mode :)

I do not shy away from discussion and am always available to our users here and in other forums to provide answers and explanations.

As long as it involves a factual, respectful interaction that is solution-oriented and focused on the matter at hand.

I will not engage in malicious, polemical, insinuating, or disrespectful discussions, and I will not be provoked.

In the case of false claims, however, I must clarify them.

*) At no point have I or any of my companies received money from the EU digital sovereignty funds. This is totally wrong and a lie. I have funded OpenTalk entirely privately with my own money so far.

*) The development of OpenTalk (through a separate company) has no impact on and is not related to mailbox.org.

*) I don't even like champagne that much.

You have no idea what is really going on and happening. I won't respond in-depth to polemical posts.Sorry, can't / don't want to help here.

I'm an engineer and I want to go back to our basic request.
Which is to check if there is a way to implement jtx data exchange (vjournal) and not bother Peer.
@Peer is there a solution planned within 1 year?

I agree on the DAV standards, seems like that Mailbox isn't implementation anything new. Seems like a mesh up of different services and clients. Mailbox need a big UI modification and work on the implementation of new standards. This request has been opened 18 months ago. How long can it take lol.

btw, nothing wrong with making good money and drinking wine lol

@Peer I am with you, just trying to find some common ground with @7169558, personally I don't think it is important which beverages you prefer. I like coffee :). Personally I do not want to judge how much Mailbox implements by themselves. But with all respect, I would like to know where we are regarding VJOURNAL

Back to topic: Is there a plan to bring VJOURNAL at some point? Is it possible to provide the necessary backend components (experimentally, beta-testing, opt-in?), just satisfy everyone here who would like to use jtx Board? I bet that many people in this topic would be just happy with that. If this is not feasible, please let us know anyways.
