mailbox plan update in summer 2026

Dear Community,

For many years, mailbox has stood for secure, reliable and independent communication from Germany.

On 15 July 2026 (private customers) and 1 September 2026 (business customers), we will be adjusting the prices for our Standard and Premium plans and, as part of this, doubling the storage space for Mail and Drive:

  • Standard: € 3.00 per month when paid annually (instead of € 2.50)
  • Premium: € 9.00 per month when paid annually (instead of € 7.50)

As a thank you for your loyalty, existing customers on all private plans will benefit from a transition period until 31 August 2026: until then, you can secure the current terms and conditions for the Standard and Premium plans for the coming years by extending your contract term. If you are on the Light plan, you can switch to the Standard or Premium plan on the current terms until 31 August 2026.

You can find out exactly what the price adjustment means for you and how existing customers can take advantage of this exclusive offer in our News section and in our Knowledge Base: FAQs for private customers

The demands on secure digital communication are constantly increasing. With this adjustment, we are continuing to invest in the secure operation of our infrastructure in Germany and the ongoing development of mailbox.

If you have any specific queries regarding your contract, our Support team is, as always, happy to assist you: via the Helpdesk portal or at helpdesk@mailbox.org.

Would you not consider bringing a custom domain very low usage plan - just above the Light? Or bless the Light with at least one custom domain? 10 GB Mail storage and 5 GB Drive storage were already overkill (at least for me and I suspect quite a few of us) and now that has been doubled. No, this half Euro monthly change isn't going to break anyone's bank (mine neither) but it really is an overkill. Some of us really like to delete emails which are not be kept (and that's most of the email in all honesty).

"5 GB Drive storage were already overkill"

I don't agree, I need 10 GB Drive, and it's the reason I have a free kSuite plan with Infomaniak, and a Light plan with Mailbox.org

So since you need this plan and it works for you, you don't want the company to add another plan which will be between this plan and Light? Is that what you are disagreeing with? Because that's what I started with.

And any reason you completely disregarded the part where I have said "at least for me and I suspect quite a few of us)" from your quote?

For me, the light plan makes only sense for teams/families. There are better offers (e.g. Posteo).
I am using Fastmail because of this and all the other issues, unfixed bugs (for months/years). Maybe in the future mailbox is a real alternative again. :)

Now that the file storage space has doubled, I’m looking at the plans offered on the homepage and have mixed feelings.

As a regular user, 20GB of email storage seems more than enough. After 7 years, I’ve only used 600MB.

The 10GB of disk space is puzzling, given the size of the inbox or when compared to the Premium plan.

The fee of €0.40 per 5GB of additional disk space also seems out of place with the €3 plan, considering that you pay €0.20 per 1GB for mailbox storage, which already has 20GB.

With all due respect, your offer is odd for a potential new customer, which such disproportions.

Please, review your plans.

I didn't used storage drive yet, but when I would use it and need more than 10GB, I definitely wouldn't pay more for additional space.

Nevertheless, service quality is outstanding and I'll stay as your customer.
